I've had mine for about 8 years. No problems. I got in on the tail end of a group purchase. I talked to about 10 others that had already received there's and all the comments were positive. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. They are made in the USA.

Thanks for the info. Would you mind telling me the group purchase price. I am heading back to the car show and hope to work out a deal.

They have two versions. The "heavy duty" (I think) is the one made in the US. The other is chinese made. When I talked to them at Barrett Jackson, they were very up front about this. I have not purchased one, but did like their quality. Shipping to San Diego makes it very epxpensive compared to Mohawk for example, and their service area does not easilly reach CA. Things to consider.

Good luck.

Super offers 3 lifts- one is from China; two they make "here".

They do look like nice lifts but I was not convinced for the prices they are asking.

I also realized that their "American" made lifts are very similar to the Chinese made lifts. So I am not convinced there is a great deal of difference in what they are offering.

Also, when a company tells me freight is included I get concerned as to how much I am actually paying for an item.

I do not understand why their "American" made lifts are so expensive.

When I bought mine, lifts from China were not being imported yet. Everything was made in the USA, and they were expensive. Nobody offered a lift for less than $2500. I paid well over $3000 for mine with all the add-ons. I've seen a couple of the $1500-$2000 Chinese lifts that are basically the identicle design as mine but the difference in quality is very noticable.

Think about it... do you want to stand underneath a car on a hoist that was made by someone with no worry of repercussions if that car falls on your head?

Things made in china right now are being made for quantity NOT quality..... don't think so? just walk up and down the isles at harbor freight.

My hoist guy said parts can take forever to get for china made hoists.

My $.02

I've got a Superlifts SR-7H, and it's well worth what it costs. They don't have it listed on the website, but they have an outside slide lift that is American made and cheaper than a Backyard Buddy. At least they are honest and upfront about which lifts they sell are made in China. Personally, I was willing to pay more for a lift made with USA steel, and built by American workers at an American company in Missouri.

Maybe I will look at Superlifts again.

I agree that thinking that it is Chinese made why working under it is a big concern!

It is very difficult to make a decision. Direct Lift looks very good and everyone who buys one raves about it. I don't hear anyone rave about the BackYardBuddy though. They never responded to my request. So that tells me something about their manner of doing business.

Fireman, what make is your lift?

I am not looking for a bargain. I am looking for quality and safety. I can't imagine a broken cable with the car on the lift and then having to wait 3 months for a replacement cable and not being able to get the car off the lift!
