Does anyone have any experience using a supplied-air respirator when spraying highly toxic materials.

I need to get one and I'm looking for recommendations.

I've used a full helmet with shield. 3M makes it. Do you have a breatheable air supply? Compressor air is not safe for breathing.

I do not have a breathable air supply. I've seen locally a system that you use your compressor which supplies air to some kind of unit, I'm presuming a filter of some kind, and then to a hooded helmet.

I do have scuba tanks and I wonder if I could use the air from the tanks to supply air to a regulator of some sort in a hood helmet.

I think you maybe looking for a powered air purifying respirator or PAPR. They are pricy. Check with outfits that sell safety equipment and do a search for PAPR. I know Scott and MSA sell units but again they are expensive. But I guess if you are using bad stuff, protecting you health is worth it.
