Tried a search, but the product name isn’t conducive to effective search.

Just looking for thoughts on the product and imitations. From online reviews it look like the original is far better than the imitations, no surprise there.

Application will be mineral spirits, alcohol, and brake cleaner, mostly for cleanup of old machines and parts. Might try one with gun cleaner, but since the volume of cleaner used is so small it probably doesn’t make financial sense vs disposable cans.

Anyone use them?

I have two and use them almost everytime I am in the shop. I keep one loaded with paint thinner for cleanup use and the other loaded with Kroil. So far no problems after several years of usage.

I have two, one for WD-40, and another for acetone. They hold pressure very well, and mostly work the way I need them to.

The tip that came with mine can be taken apart and converted from a stream into a mist. I use the stream tip on the WD-40 and the mist on the acetone. They sell additional tips that I plan on trying to see if I like the results better.

I certainly recommend the product.

I use them for my brake wash as it is much cheaper to purchase in 5-gallon quantities than 16-20 ounce cans. I keep a few cans on hand as well for convenience but the Sure Shot gets used almost daily.

I also recommend buying the original as the imitators are not nearly the quality. We bought some imitation ones at work a few years back and they sucked. I also keep a rebuild kit on hand at home and then replace the kit when used. So far in the 20+ years I have used the Sure Shots, I have had to rebuild mine a couple of times.

I have two I use on the farm. I can spray chains from five feet away, that’s important on some machines.

Stay away from the fakes, if for no reason than a matter of principle.

I have five of them. I had my own plus I inherited my dad's. My most used has denatured alcohol in it. I use it for general purpose cleaning.

The others have brake cleaner, acetone, WD-40 and rubber prep for flat repairs.

It's nice to buy the chemicals in bulk for cheap and charge with compressed air.

I have brake cleaner in one (which I need to convert to a stream) and the other has WD-40.

I have two of the 1 quart, really handy and still work - I'm pretty sure Nixon was prez when I bought 'em.

One's chrome plated, but paperwork said it's chrome plated BRASS, and warned against using any chemicals with ammonia - other one's white painted steel.

I see that new chrome ones say they're steel; also, prices have gone up a bit since I bought mine :D ...Steve

I have 1 chrome and 3 painted ones. I use the chrome one with Methanol to start my race bike on Nitromethane and has worked for years. Sometimes I need to start it in low temperatures with gasoline which also works well in the sprayers.

Other ones, I keep CRC 6-56, brake or carburetor cleaner.

Nice that Shur-shot’s are repairable.

Thanks all, going to order a couple and a rebuild kit. Wasn’t ever seriously considering the fakes.

I was in your boat and a bit hesitant but I love mine. I only have 1 filed with brake cleaner. I changed it to the stream instead of mist. Ill eventually buy more. Between that and golden rod oilers its made a world of difference

Golden rod oilers? Gotta go look at those, I’m still using old Eagle brass cans, maybe #66, with an assortment of extensions and tips.

So I bought a couple.

Have 99% alcohol in one and it sure does spray nice. Unfortunately it also eats the paint on the sprayer, so some day I’ll need to strip it and maybe paint it with epoxy. I may have gotten an old one though, I understand that the new ones are powder coated, guess that’s one risk with shopping for the best price.

I have 1 chrome and 3 painted ones. I use the chrome one with Methanol. I think now you know why I posted that. (sorry- I should of been a little more specific about the paint thing)

I have the original. Mine is full of brake clean, a previous shop used theirs for soapy water.

Very pleased with mine, 200psi max IIRC, so just fill with shop air until it stops filling. Much nicer than going through cans, although the sure shot doesn't have the cleaning force for blasting through grime like the aerosol cans. I have the mist tip on mine, which is better for leaning larger areas/rotors.

Since everyone is listing their colors, mine is green.

I think that I’m going to strip the paint and then Cerracoat it. That stuff stands up to just about everything. I suspect that the new ones which are powder coated will be pretty chemical resistant as well.

I did buy a chrome one, it has acetone in it.

The tips can be changed, the misting one is fine for most things, but the stream one seems to have as much blasting power as the disposable cans.
