Surface mount, hardwire LEDS?

After reviewing all of the LED threads there seems to be a common theme...most are plug in with a chain....? :shocking:

Am I missing something? Who does this? (and no offense if you do but just trying to figure out why?) :dunno:

So I have 6, 4 foot fluorescent fixtures in my garage with 10 foot ceilings. Lighting is great but given all of the technology out there and low power usage of LED's figured it might be time for an upgrade. Cheaper, brighter, better...

So are there any surface mount options for LED's? One switch, no visible wires, no plugs...

Do tell.

Thanks in advance.

Well - didn't know that was an option? Back to research...

Pretty easy.

Depending on the type of fixtures you have, you can either use "plug and play" (pray?), or the ballast bypass retrofit.

I used the 4 foot retrofit tubes, with great success. the tubes were $10 each.

If you get the right Kelvin rating, then yes, it will be brighter.
Even with high Kelvin LED's it will look brighter.

If you just want to buy a plug and play fixture you can always open it up and rework the wires so it feeds through the ceiling behind where it's mounted and hardwire it. Then remove the pull cord on it. Just a matter if you're willing to put forth some effort.
