Surface mount LED

Hello. After reading a few threads on LED lighting, it seems I need additional info. My 20x20 2-car garage has 8ft ceilings, and it would be nice to have 8 lights or more, arranged around each half.

But the ceiling is too low to put chain lights up, with boards swinging around and such. Does anyone know of a 3000-4000 lumen LED surface mount 4ft fixture worth it?

Just bought a few, very bright (4500 Lm, 5000K).

While the pictures show chain mount, they look like you can surface mount as well).

If you aren't stuck on 4', try these, please.

If you do, let us know how you like them as several other people seem interested, besides me (listed as 8000 Lm, still 5000 K)

I just installed 10 of those Sam's Club fixtures. They don't come with surface mount attachments, but I simply bought a bag of white plastic plugs, drilled a hole through the face, a smaller hole through the back, & bolted them to the ceiling. My house also had the old florescent fixtures hard wired. I cut an opening in the housings, removed the plug, & hard wired the new fixtures. Every bit as secure as the old florescent & a lot brighter!

I have low clearance, surface mount LEDs available if you are interested. They only take up about 1.75" of space.

Just bought 4 of these for my 11' high garage and they are amazing. I'm going back for some more soon.

I put 5 of these in my 24'x24'x9' and they're great. I put them about 6' from each end, 2 in front, 3 in back, because that's where I need most of the light. I decided to forgo the middle row all together. I do have a huge window in the side wall though. Without the window, I think 3 rows, 2 2 and 3 would have been plenty.

They're reasonably priced and easy to install, too. Not every Lowe's carries them and do not rely on the website for accurate in-store inventory. Call to check stock or order for pick up, to be sure.

Good to know! My 17 x 18 garage will have a total of 9 of these between general and task lighting. Looked at other Chinese knock offs and these can't be beat for $79 a piece.

If your budget can handle it, look into PIXI lights. Surface mount and only a little over 1/2 inch thick!
But you'll need a box under each one. :(

I put one into a basement storage room with a 7 foot ceiling. Very happy with it. Instant on. Very pleasant color temperature, even light distribution. These units are edge lit led panels available in different sizes.
They are also approved for sidewall mounting.
