Surface mount metal or flush mount plastic?

My pole barn will finished with OSB and I'm deciding between surface mounted metal boxes or flush mounted (old work) plastic. Is one preferred over the other for outbuildings/garages? The wire is all ran behind the walls and surface mounted sticking out doesn't bother me.

No. Just metal boxes need to be grounded. Both can take a hit. IMHO. comes down to cost and looks. Metal outlet boxes need to be dressed more carefully so you don't ground out a hot or neutral.
