Surface mount w/ ceiling box

I think I have this right... perhaps not...

Mounting 4’ led fluorescents on drywall eventually and need to rough in the electrical. Access after the drywall is difficult. The round ceiling boxes I picked up are wider than the maxlite fixture I’ll use which leads me to my questions...

Common practice is to use the fixture housing as the junction box with Romex coming straight through ceiling through connector into fixture?

How should I rough in the wire so drywall installer knows what’s intended?

I do it often. Leave a foot or so of wire to go into the fixture. Tell the drywaller to make a small hole and feed the wire though.

Oh, don't be too confident, the dry-wallers will still cover up at least one of those drops. Record exact dimensions were you put the drops so you can cut them out later.

This, worst case tou cut a hole, grab the wire and install an old work box. That's onpy if you know where the wire is

that's when I waste no time cutting until I find it. Let them patch it. Or have the gc call them back and find what they burried.
