Surface prep coating over existing coatings

My floor is currently coated with one of the Home Depot water based epoxy coating systems. I'm not sure which one. It is not topcoated. I intend to recoat it with Tile-Clad HS expoy or the Armorseal 8100 water based product (both Sherwin Williams products). The existing flooring has adhered well and is in pretty good shape really.

My first question involves prep and adhesion. Can I solvent clean the existing floor and apply the Tile-Clad HS and expect it to adhere? Or likewise wash the floor with soap and water and apply the Armorseal 8100?

Also, is the solvent based Tile-Clad a better choice than the Armorclad?

Hi, we are not familiar with the brand you mention. Our tech data is online for you to evaluate and make product choices. ARMORCLAD is an industrial contractor grade 100% solids coating system.

As for prep we recommend over any coating a light scratching up with fine sanding pad or floor buffer pad, then wipe down with denatured alcohol. Soap is NG in our opinion and not a good idea.

You said the floor was in pretty good shape. Does that mean there are no areas where the old epoxy is peeling up?

Yes. No peeling.

I'm having some grinding done to level out a tripping hazard so recoating is necessary. Otherwise it is a bit discolored but otherwise good.

Armorcoat looks like a terrific product, BTW. It's just that I can walk out to the street and see the Sherwin Williams sign at the end of the block. Sometimes convenience and supporting the local guy is compelling.

Armorpoxy, I just came to understand you earlier comment. In my original post I wrote: " is the solvent based Tile-Clad a better choice than the Armorclad?" That was an unfortunate typo or brain fart. I meant to say "Armorseal", referring to a comparison between the two SW products. I did not intend to make a comparison between competing product lines. My bad.

What I am curious about is the difference between solvent based products and water based products in general. Back about 20 many years ago, that would have been a silly question, but I'm not certain that the water based products lag so far behind any longer.

Any thoughts anyone?
