I am thinking about using Surgical gloves when working on cars. What's a good brand, or does it matter?

I use Uline Industrial Nitrile Gloves, not a bad price and I order a few boxs at a time, and get them shipped right to my door. They don't hold up well to brake cleaner, but they are good for a lot of other things, and keep me from having to scrub my hands at the end of the day.

I am not sure if any given brand would be the best.
Depends on your needs.
They do come in different thicknesses.
Some are made with changes in compounds to be more resistant to harsh chemicals then others.
I just buy what ever I can find cheap as when i am working on something and do not want to contaminate other parts I can toss them often.

I wear them for many things and find that the vinyl ones are best for me. The nitrile seem to deteriorate unless used quickly.

You don't want "surgical" gloves. Got a couple boxes of the white medical gloves from my RN MIL and they disintegrate around fuel, carb cleaner, etc. thought I'd try them out but I used one pair before giving them to the wife.

The black ones from HF have worked out well although your hands will be soaking wet from sweat after wearing them for more than 15-20 minutes.

It takes a while to get dexterity while wearing them but you do get used to it eventually.

I find the Kimberly Clarks to be the most durable for nitriles. KC500s.
Plentiful on Amazon.

I use the HF light blue gloves...Don't know if they are the best out there but any surgical glove used for mechanical duty will probably get torn sooner than later, (aircraft safety wire, for example, is murder on gloves) so to me quantity trumps any marginal gain in quality. Be careful using surgical gloves while using air tools... glove grab on a spinning impact socket can ruin your day.

They also make my Dr's index finger massive!

My father in law is a dentist so the wife grabs whatever they have at the office. They don't hold up the best, but the price is right. Lately I've been getting the medium thickness (cant recall the mil count) gloves from HF and they are hard to beat for the price.
