Surprising My Dad

My father is going in for an operation next Thurs, and my cousin and myself thought a nice thing to do would be to paint his 2 car garage and do the floor with epoxy.

I dont have lots of time, but want to do it nice. I was thinking about epoxy-coat full kit. The garage floor is relatively clean. The house is like 40 years old but the cement is pretty clean, might need some cleaning.

What do you guys suggest I use for wall, ceiling and floor? I dont have a lot of time. I will have to empty it out tarp it all outside on the driveway....

Any helpful tips would be appreciated.

What a great gift for your Dad!

Even though you don't have a lot of time, be sure not to rush any aspects of the floor coating. The process isn't that complicated, but you do need to follow the directions to a "T". Rushing through is a sure way to make mistakes.

The transformation will help with your Dad's recovery, he'll be exercising a lot more than usual by constantly walking out tho his new garage to admire your work.

Did you already order your kit? Make sure you can get your order in so you can have your epoxy in time for next Thursday (I am not sure what state you are in). You can get started early by degreasing any areas that are stained.

What a great gift, I'm sure your dad will love it and be proud of having such a wonderful son!

Are you sure your dad would want epoxy on his floor? As a Dad, I personally don't like surprises like that when it comes to the things I already own. Just offering another perspective.

He has a another house and he did it on that one. So I assume on his main house he would like it, he just never had the time and is too old to move everything out or he would have.

You could research that forever..... and ever.

Pick one and do the best job you can. Read up on application, and don't forget that the prep work is the determining factor in most failures.

Plenty of success stories right here on the board, just read them.

Cool, I guess I will order the full kit of Epoxy-Coat tomorrow. I will post up some before & after pictures next week. I am also going to paint the walls and ceiling. Thanks everyone for your help.

is it heated I would thing the slab would be too cold if your in NY

It has a heater, but It's not on. The garage is below there house (high ranch) so it stays pretty warm. If I do need to heat it I can, should I heat it before I apply or after?

I would heat it before after and during.. it takes long to set up the colder the slab is
