Suspected rooftop burglar electrocuted

Ok. So the tire shop employee was going out for a smoke break at 10:30am, when he discovered this guy hanging over the edge of the roof.
According to the report, the crackhead had cut two wires, and was cutting a third when he fried himself.

So, apparently nobody at the tire shop had done any work before 10:30, since at least two phases of their power had been cut and nobody noticed it.

I'll bet everyone was excited when they showed up and there was no power. Boss was probably out and everybody was happy with their good fortune to not have to do anything. I've been asked countless times to take as long as possible by employees of businesses that reported an outage. It's great how not having to work for an extra 15 minutes can make someone's day.

Reminds me of a man electrocuted at a construction site a few years ago in St. Louis. There was a great uproar about negligent construction companies leaving live wires lying around to kill innocents - ignoring that he had climbed a locked gate to get in in the first place. On further investigation, it turned out he was engaged in copper thievery. Uproar kinda petered out.

I live in Iowa and last month Darwin took down another of these idiots. Some ***** and his buddy climbed an electrical pole to try to take out a transformer for it's copper....Last I heard he was going to live, but both arms needed to be amputated....Too bad he didn't fall to his death. I have NO sympathy for thieves. I rank them just barely below murderers.

eh, I think getting to live with no arms is a good punishment for stealing.

We have had several fatal instances here where copper harvesters have gone into transformer stations and cut ground wires. It ain't pretty.

What can you do (legally) if you catch someone in the act of stealing something, on your property, but not in your building? If you hold them at gunpoint and they run? Will beating the snot out of them result in you being charged with assault? Do nothing and see if law enforcement can catch them?

My opinion....too bad! geologist....that was funny...I did laugh out load. And djjsr, my buddy the attorney says that dead men don't get to tell their side of the story......there are no conflicting statements. Only one opinion and one story. Just saying.
