suspending fixtures from angled ceiling?

I'm suspending 8' florescent industrial strip lights from the garage ceiling, which is angled. The long axis of the lights will run perpendicular to the slope, so it's easy to get the lights suspended at the same altitude. What's the right way to hang these?

I have various ideas:

-- I could hang them from chain or cable, but I'd like to avoid having them sway back and forth.

-- I could use strut channel attached to the ceiling and threaded rod hanging down, with a tricky fitting to make the rod hang vertically or an angled wooden block to make the strut attachment horizontal

-- I guess I could use threaded rod and bend it to get the angle I want...

What's best here?

Thanks in advance!

The threaded rod option works well, I hung a header beam using threaded rod from c section purlins - no problems.
The light fixtures ( 4ft. 2 x 36 watt units) in my work area are suspended from chains and I don't have an issue with them either.

Add an additional chain on each end so instead of a straight down chain on each end you have two chains in a V that will prevent motion. And if the hang points are wider than the attach points at the lamp then you have two way sway prevention. What is going on in your building that causes you to worry about the light swaying?

That would be my question - if the lights are swaying, that means the garage roof is moving around. Hanging them on chains is very common in industrial environments without any issues.

#12 jack chain is a great way to hang fixtures.

These fixtures were hung off Unistrut & all thread, had a time finding eye nuts locally. the fixtures around the perimeter were hung w/ jack chain.

It's not that the structure is so unsteady that the whole thing sways and light fixtures along with it; but it's easy to imagine that, for instance, the oscillating shop fan would cause all the light fixtures to swing to and fro.

The triangulated chains idea is tempting, maybe I'll give that a try.
