Suspension question

Had new tires put on my 2000 Nissan Frontier today and asked for a price to replace lower ball joints as they are bad. This is a 2WD truck. Their quote to replace was ~$650. $360 was labor and the rest was for new ball joints.

I plan to do the fix myself and just replace the entire LCA. It looks fairly simple to do. Am I missing something? Their price suggested a more complicated job than it seems.

I assume you meant to put this in Free Parking, but what the hell.

Mitchell says 4.6 for both LBJs, or 4.2 for both LCAs, plus alignment. I'm looking at my employee pricing on parts, but my educated guess is that either option aftermarket woild cost them $60-80 each. So labor sounds about right, maybe even a bit cheap, parts may be a touch high depending on circumstances, but not crazy high.

Does the stab link attach to the LCA? If so expect to replace those also. Were they including an alignment?

No, alignment would be an additional $65.

This place has always been reasonable on tires and alignments so that's why I was wondering if I was missing something on the ball joint job. I didn't think they were trying to rip me off, so I figured I was missing something.

Unless you want to deal with the springs I wouldn't mess with replacing the control arms. Maybe that's what the shop was going to do, remove the arms & press the BJs out with a press.
