I think this might be helpful information for anyone looking to do something similar. I have a new construction basement area that is approx 900 sf and consists of a future game room, storage, and vault/storm room. Initially wanted to go all-out on this floor and looked at endless products and data but in the end I scaled back and went for simplicity. I have 1200sf of garage that's getting Legacy's Hellfire, and a huge amount of outdoor concrete to address as well so I'm prioritizing those in time and money. My goals for the basement are in order of priority 1) easy to prep and apply 2) readily available 3) functional 4) cost effective.
Sherwin Williams has their Armorseal line and the entry level product is "Tread Plex" water based acrylic, single component. It's recommended for foot traffic in warehouses, retail, healthcare, schools, etc. It was in stock at my store in base colors for light and dark tint and I paid about $52/gal with their current promotion. I chose a common gray color, and wound up using about 3.75 gallons for 900sf. Coverage rates for me were 375-400sf first coat to 450-500sf second coat. It was super-easy to apply I didn't feel like it needed any reduction and clean-up was like any water based paint. I applied two coats and it has a nice even appearance. My slab was power troweled (ride on) but not burnished, it had some rough and some smooth areas and I did a thorough acid-wash prep.
I'm not expecting miracles out of this stuff but I will report back on wear as soon as I can. These areas will pretty much be foot traffic, and while I expect some issues in the future, it will be totally acceptable to re-coat. If that window is around 5 years or more I will be very happy. For now it looks great.
