Does anyone here have one of these? Thoughts on its usefulness?

For those with limited space and a good vise, it looks like a great accessory.

When cutting, my Milwaukee portaband is the first thing I grab. Also, any of you guys have that horizontal base plate for the portaband that goes for about $250 on Amazon.com?

I've got it. Honestly I've never used it. Bought it 'cause it seemed like a good idea and either forget about it or don't need it. If you think you'd use it, go for it. It's basic but seems like a quality piece to me.

Its kinda cool i guess. for the cost of the porta band you can find a used metal cutting band saw.

Which will take up floor space and probably require 220v.

Looks like a useful accessory for someone who already has a Portaband. Think I'll make me one. Pretty sure I've got some 1/4" plate laying around.

The Milwaukee horizontal attachment is too expensive for what it is IMO. For that kind of money a separate chopsaw or cold cut saw are probably better options.

Fixed it for ya. Mine is the deep cut Milwaukee and I paid $120 for it. I didn't buy it new from a store, but got it at an auction and from what I could tell when purchased it had never been used.

Yeah, for the 40ish bucks they want for it I think one could cut one out in less than an hour. Maybe if I get bored this winter I'll make one too.

According to the thread on pirate4x4.com, the guy that runs swag offroad tried making a horizontal stand for the portabands but apparently it makes pretty crappy cuts (not perfectly horizontal).

I'm getting one for Christmas, so I can't weigh in just yet. I'm looking forward to it though. I constantly use my saw with a piece of work in the vice. I never get exactly the cut I want, so hopefully this will make it easier to make straight cuts.

I prolly could spring for a band saw, power isn't the problem, but floor space is. If I could find a bench top model that could cut metal (variable) that would be perfect.
