ok, so i have a roof mounted down draft swamper thats rusted out and needs replacement, I cannot afford the 2k pro install at the moment, i can however afford the $500 cooler unit and install kit, I am just wondering how difficult it actually is to install correctly? is it pretty simple that me and my dad could do it in a day? thanks all

Not difficult at all. Hardest part is getting the old one off the roof and the new one on the roof without getting injured at least from my experience.

As gd mentioned, make sure the new one matches the old one for the ducting. Get the same draft as the existing, if it's a down draft get that, if not it's a side draft. The down draft ones tend to be easier since it's pretty much sitting on a box with strap holding it down and conduit for the power.

Also note most new do NOT come with the motor so you'll have to either reuse the old or get a new one. One of the ones I replaced the motor did not mount the same way so a new motor had to be purchased even though the old one was in good working condition. They aren't that expensive but ***** sweating all day then finding out you cannot enjoy your hard effort because you have to get a new motor. You may also want to double check the water pump situation, some new come with them and some do not. Cheap insurance to get a new one.

Not hard at all, when mine went out we found one made out of stainless steel. Brother and I got the shell and blower up there and mounted in about an hour while on an incline on the second story. The hardest part, since its a side draft, was trying to keep it level while the feet were attached to the new unit.

The worst of it is taking apart the old one, and don't be like me and almost drop the old one on top of the AC.
