Bought a nice old Snap On road chest and a Yorktown roll cart for $65.00. Bought the little Snap On box for $5. The Snap On chest is dated 1971.

I really didnt want the roll cart but the seller wouldnt split them up.

So what do you think? Do I get the seal of approval?:)

You did very well. What is the model number stamped on the back of the Snap-on box where you found the date?

Thanks! You guys get me all riled up and I go out and start buying old tools and boxes!

Its a KRA-58B. Im not sure what to do with it though. Leave it the way it is and just clean it or blast it and re-paint it? It does have that nice patina of age that you just cant duplicate. Either way, Im going to restore the name plate, polish the pull handle and get a new cam lock for the front.

What do you guys think? leave it be or do it up?

Clean it up and see what it looks like although I suspect you may have to repaint. It looks like someone already did a quick job on the front cover. I like that box with the 3 small drawers in the top, center. I had one years ago, I think it was stolen in the first burglary. I recently purchased another used but it's the 58C (I think) which only has 2 drawers in the top, center. It's a nice and very useable box regardless of the appearance.

I have several of those little boxes. One holds my 1/4" socket set, another holds my brake tools. I think they still make them although the logo is different and they are more expensive. Five dollars was a steal!

As for the roller. In the past, I have used surplus inexpensive rollers to mount benchtop power tools (e.g. drill press). Use the drawers for tooling for that item. If there is spare drawer space, you can also keep some of your seldom used tools there. You can then have your tool right in the center of the job when you need it and roll it out of the way when you don't.

I thought it was a kra58 or kra59. Still very nice.:)
I've been hunting a Kr(a)62 (road chest) for a while.
The paint job on that box looks like the KR352 I just purchased and so I'm using it now but will repaint/restore it sometime in the near future.
