I've got some 330 cylinders that used to have nitrogen in them and I'm wondering if the welding supply house will refill/exchange them for a cylinder with 75/25 or Argon? I ask because I've seen that different gasses tend to have different types of valves but many use the same and can be used for different types of gasses. Before I loaded two of these big suckers in my truck and take them up there I thought I might do myself a favor by asking here first.

I just swapped out an oxygen tank for an argon tank and the valves are completely different. The guy at the weld supply said it wasn't a problem.

It will depend on the gas suppliers policy, but a nitrogen bottle should have a cga 580 regulator fitting which is used for argon and other inert gasses as well. So the fitting should not be an issue.

This chart explains the various fittings and the approved gasses for them.

Air Gas in Belton, TX does this for me.

Find an Airgas in Houston and ask.
