Right. But you are forgetting that pretty much every collector assumes that anything made yesterday is better than what is made today. Heck, how many times have people put a premium price on something simply because it was made a long time ago? You could claim that they made King Arthur's sword on that anvil and you'd have somebody foaming at the mouth to pay $20k for it, even with no proof of provenance.

People these days are antique crazy. I suppose it makes them feel like they have a tangible sense of wealth to have old stuff piled up in their garage.

A lot of people who collect old stuff do it because as a child they remember that stuff being used. Years ago when I first started working the old guys were restoring model A's and T's. The stories I heard about what they use to do in those things were priceless.

Now it is muscle cars that are all the "rage".
