Hello everyone
I live in Australia and was interested in buying a Swedish set of bahco 1/2 socket set not the ****** Taiwanese ones in the blow mould cases.
Online I have found the model number I was after 7888sm but they only sell to European countries I was wondering if anyone has ever used them and if they know of any way to get them to Australia other than fly over to sweden?
Also any opinions of the tool quality if someone has experienced them?
Reasons I am after them is I've heard good reviews on Swedish bahco tools not specifically socket sets, 1/2 ratchet is same as snap on though with a rubber handle for half the price, they have a nice complete set of 6 point sockets (hard to find to find in aus), and come in a sturdy metal case with foam insert.
Have attached image below of the set I was after

Hi Mate!

I don't think any of them are Swedish!

Some of the guys in the U.S. seem to come across some quite nice Spanish made Bahco, which is similar in some respects to Snap On, but I've never seen any of that in the U.K.

All we get here are the crappy Taiwanese sets!

If you are in Australia have you considered KoKen? It's really nice, probably more usable than any of the Bahco, and seriously cheap here in the U.K. They make loads of styles of ratchets, so whatever you want will be available, and of course offer 6 point and 12.point sockets! Over there it's got to be really well priced!

I like Bahco. But, they've been a part of SnapOn for I think 20 years; production has definitely moved away from the motherland by and large.

Dave's suggestion of KoKen makes a great deal of sense too; picked up some 1/2" drive deep sockets for a mate and they are great.

As for the Dual-80 guts Bahco ratchet, I don't see the magic. But, if their pear-head is your preference, I would just go for the comfort-grip Snap-On (lots more length & flex handle options anyway) vs. the clunky-grip Bahco.

my 2 cents.

I believe Bahco still makes all their files and blades in Sweden, possibly some other stuff.

Those Spanish Bahco ratchets are supposed to be pretty nice though

I think saws and some (rebranded) knives are the only Swedish made items left.

Not sure about the recent years, but previously all high level sockets and wrenches were made in Argentina. They might have moved those now also to China or Taiwan.

Swedish sockets was so long ago I can't imagine it being possible to find NOS. And if you do it will be low tooth count ratchets and no flank drive on sockets.

I have a 2011 Bahco catalogue and it's interesting because there are clearly two ranges of socket sets in it. One is metal cased which have come from the Belzer range (some of the pictures of individual sockets have Belzer stamped on them), the other is plastic cased, branded Bahco, and the same as the BluePoint stuff. I've never totally got my head round all the mergers and acquisitions. Was Belzer part of Sandvik at one point?
