Hi community
This thing about a first post on a new forum is always a bit tricky. You're not sure how to present yourself. Just want to sound as yourself and not somebody you're not, and that's tricky sometimes. But i'll give it a go, i'm an old fart that just turned 55. I've been a jack of all trades all my life, been doing a lot of car restaurations, a little wooden boat building and a lot of other stuff in between.
Built the garage i always wanted but never could afford five years ago. It's 8 x 13 meters, i think that's about 28 x 40 feet. I also have 2 little grandsons, 3 and 2 years old, who already got their own toolboxes and loves to play with grandpa in the garage. Currently i'm working on putting a VW 1,9 TDI engine in my old -69 volvo 142 to get a cheap reliable DD. I've been a railroadworker most of my life and as a machineoperator i'm mostly driving a volvo EW160C excavator on the tracks for all kinds of maintenance work.
I also got a -69 VW bay pickup waiting it's turn for a makeover in the garage, a job that i'll try to involve the two little rascals in somehow.
I'm going to add 3.5 m. to one shortend of the garage this summer to make a welding area and at the same time free up some much needed space in the garage. It was when that was decided that i started looking at the interwebb for ideas and found this site. Haven't had time to read very much here yet, but hoping to get some great ideas from here.
