Thi is a small project i am almost finished with. Its my Partner 16hp lawnmower/tractor whatever you want to call it.

I got a Husqvarna snowplow for free from my FIL he had found it in a dumpster, the big problem was it was heavy about 150 pounds... and it had skidplates to keep it from the ground.

So i modified it with caster wheels so it could easily be pushed, first try went soo bad, it kicked up a wheelie, blade hittin the asfalt, sparks flyin', needless to say, i needed more weight on the front wheels.

So i tried adding weights but decided to not weigh the mower down with more weight, so i added a "bow" thingy, and a "boat towing spring" to help putting about 70 pounds of force on the front end and thus giving me no wheelies, and the possibility to steer.

The square tubing used in this project my boss gave to me as a gift, because i had just become a dad :p great gift, but the greatest gift was my son, first child, and his name is Edvin.

Well then i had to get chains, none to be found for my size of tires, so i bought ATV chains, they did not fit at all, so i modified them a lot, so they fit snug on the tires.

The last thing i did was a rebuild of the electrical system, since it was fryed, the regulator had broke, and fryed the ignition.

I added simple switches, and removed all faulty wiring, including all "safety thingys" like the one under seat and on brake pedal. (stupid i know, but im the only one driving this beast  )

Currently im painting the cast iron weights i made at work for the rear wheels, since they are a must since the rear wheels need more grip to push a bit further.

The project with the cost of new battery, regulator and chains set me back about $400 so i guess its ok, since a snowplow "kit" for the mower cost over $600

Well sorry for my rant, here are some pictures:

A little update...

As i said, i needed weights for the rear wheels, so i made some cone shaped cast iron pieces at work, and made a bracket to fit the holes in the rims.

Then i cut out a small section on the inner weight so i can easily check tire pressure. then i just screwed the outer weight on and lock it all up with a nut.

the total weight of these 4 weights is about 60 pounds.

Time for a little update, the winter is almost over, we didnt get much snow here, only about 10 inches.

But the snowplow worked great, and i found out that it is really hard to take good pictures of snow when using a smartphone camera.

but anyways, here are some results from the last snowfall we had:

Wouldn't it be easier to fill the rear wheels with sand instead of adding those weights?
otherwise, nice project...
