I just happen to check during the day on my local CL and found this,

Even had some tools in it. Nothing special but found a couple US tools. A 15" Armstrong adjustable wrench was one of them.

all for $50..:)

Missing drawers? Hard to tell...

Still a killer deal.

Yes the bottom roll cab is :( one upper and the bottom one. I'm thinking about moving all the drawers up one position leaving a bottom opening only that locking them with that same lockdown thing mounted to the front of it now and just running a bar down from top/bottom so the drawers can't be opened. The upper box locks just fine unless I can find drawers (unlikely) Don't see them on the site as avail. but I'll check with my dealer when I order keys for the locks for it next week.

KR657A bottom "88" date code
KR637 top "88" date code.

I think you might be able to get a key from ebay providing you can get a key code off the cylinder.

How did I not see this, I swear I check c-list almost every hour!

Ya quit that :)

I just got lucky. The guy was actually a mile down the road at most. Most of the stuff inside wasn't anything to write home about but there were a couple things worth it. A skil brand belt sander, that Armstrong adjustable wrench, a couple other things.

Dealers can get them within a couple weeks usually for like $5-8 bucks. Usually the say Snap-on on them too if it's important to anyone.

Can dealers still get that old style key? thats the main reason I suggested ebay. I ordered a new key and cylinder from my dealer about a year ago and it took about a week or two.... but thats the "new" style.

Not sure what you mean regular key vs. tubular? You can get both via the dealers. It just takes awhile as they have to "make" it literally then send it to the dealer then it gets to you.
I ordered a key for a KR59 made in 1978 and another one from the 70's I can't remember the exact date. Still have both those boxes too. For whatever reason I seem to find good deals on toolboxes lately. I think those KR59's were $150 and $100 though. This box is an awesome score.

You SOB!

I pretty much gave up on CL since the local M.O. seems to be:
1. Buy tool for $**.00
2. use/abuse tool for a decade
3. List on CL asking $**.00 + 20%

Great find on your part.

I just assumed that getting a "regular" key from Snap on was like getting an OEM part from a dealer for a 20 year old car. (Slim and none). Thanks for the info.

So I'm at a fork in the road with this box. I can't get replacement drawers from my Snap-on dealer and I can't "move" them around like I planned on doing. The deeper drawers have the holes for the slides lower than the smaller ones. When I tried to swap them I came to a point where the drawers couldn't be installed. Just not made to swap around the drawers. Shame really.
I was thinking about just putting bolts and parts in it and cans/chemicals in the bottom of it but I can't stand looking at it.

Any ideas?

me neither....but I still wouldn't mind looking at that box for $50!

Great score!

Problem is I have a couple road chests without anything to put them on top of, a long KRL top box with nothing to put it on (currently it's sitting on a plastic Mac cart and about to break it) and I have this box top/bottom. I may be leaving the state for a new job and I won't need all these boxes so.......

I wish I could get the missing drawers then I'd keep it and make it my motorcycle tools box.
The road chests I'm keeping for the kids so when we get into karts or dirt bikes I'll have a place for tools at the track. I'm not taking my KRL down there it's the size of a Honda Accord.

You may find the same bottom in rougher shape but with all the drawers for cheap and make 2 out of 1
BTW, I don't feel sorry for you:D
