Several months ago I decided I should get a snow blower. I was going to buy one used because I didn't want to spend too much money. I set a budget of not more than $400 to get a decent two stage blower. I didn't want to spend more because it just doesn't snow that often here in Maryland and I figured any more than $400 would cover a lot of times paying someone else to take care of it for me. Well, a few weeks back, I got an awesome deal on a very, very old JD 726 -- got it for $150.

The recoil starter didn't work when I got it (though the electric one worked fine). Well, I never could get the recoil starter sorted out (despite buying a replacement starter) and having had it for a few weeks, I just wasn't confident that it was going to be a reliable machine (too many missing bolts along with other little things). Additionally, it had a decent amount of rust and it was pretty tired looking, so I decided to see if I could sell it. I put it up on CL and very quickly sold it for $450! So today, I went and got a Sno-Tek at HD for $600. After tax and taking into account the cost of the starter, my net cost for the SnoTek is $362. I'm pretty happy!
