Swing Case Tool/Utility Box Thoughts??

Yesterday my Ford dealer delivered my new 2017 F150 Supercab pickup!! Yea!!

Today I loaded all my “stuff” back into the new truck, installed a Truxedo bed cover, and now I’m considering adding an after-market AMP Research tailgate step. In addition to the step, I was also considering adding one of the Undercover Swing Case utility boxes:



But before I sink about $200 in the Swing Case, I thought I’d see if any GJ folks have any experience with them. Any thoughts, comments, pros, cons, etc?

I saw something similar in a Nissan truck, but I believe it slid out on tracks and had drawers on the rear. Not sure of the manufacturer.

I just replaced a Northern tool box that I had in the back of my truck for about ten years. It was the kind with sliding drawers and has gotten beat up pretty badly. I shopped for a long time and finally purchased one of these boxes from Amazon.

Overall, it's great. I did not want to lose the bottom tie down hook in the bed but there is no way around it. I've only had it for a month or so but so far it works as advertised. We will see how it holds up long term.

Oh, and you still have the entire space between the wheel wells to use - big advantage if loading 4 for sheets of anything.

I've always purchased and used below rail cargo boxes on my pick ups over the years. Holds a few roadside emergency items.

I'll be very close to retirement on my next truck purchase and will probably be driving and traveling more. Security, storage and bed use access will still be priority.

Ive got 2 them in my '14 F150 and theyre great. I got either a BOGO or buy one 50% off the other (cant remember) back in '14. As long as you keep the mounting hinges lubed, theyre good to go.

Just checked my account, ordered in May of 14. Got each one for $99.99. Maybe wait for sale or promo? I like them, but no worth $400 for 2 IMO

I'd definitely get the AMP Tailgate step. I have had one for five years now. I love it. I might have to look at those boxes for myself.
