I am looking for a push button switch where the button is recessed in a 1 inch diameter hole, but have had no luck. I probably am not using the correct terminology.

The switch is housed in a 2x3 inch plastic box about 1-1/2 inches thick. It is used to open an electric door strike and must be recessed so nothing can accidentally trigger it.

I would have taken a photo, but it was thrown away.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's a control pushbutton. Square D, GE, Allen Bradley all make them. Push button, contact block and guard are all seperate items. Momentary contact. Go to your local supply house. Extended guard might have to be ordered, but just screws on.

Thanks for the responses. It is called a hold up/panic alarm switch.

The problem with most of these "hold up" switches is that when you push the button it latches in the on position. They usually come with a little metal tool to pull the plunger back up after the incident.

Alarm - holdup buttons. Also available in momentary, look nearly identical to pix in the previous post. I'm in the biz. I'll mail you one for 10bux.
