Switch plate covers 24 gauge left overs

I have left overs from a 24 gauge roofing installation and thought it would be really nice to make my own light switch and socket covers for inside the house. Anybody done that before? Not sure how to go about it...

What sort of metalworking tools do you have? I imagine a punch would be a great start.

Way too much work cutting all those perfect little rectangular holes for the switches and those funny holes for receptacles.

Why would you even want to bother?

Code probably requires listed products, including cover plates, but I'm too lazy to look right now.

Home depot (and most others) sell metal covers. They start at $2.99 and go up if you want the fancy ones. I would not go through all the work for that price.
