Hi all, I mounted and wired the below heater in my garage the other day.

My question is, how would I hook these heaters up to a timer? Ideally, I would like to leverage a 12 hour timer like on an attic fan but I can't find one that supports a 240v circuit.

Any recommendations? Could I leverage 2 120v timers for each heater? I would prefer not to do that since that would mean 6 timers to support 3 heaters but I would if that's my only option.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

You need to use a contactor or relay to power the heater. A contactor is a heavy duty switch that is controlled by a magnetic coil. The coil is controlled by a smaller voltage/amperage that you can control remotely. Take a look at this diagram. All you need to do is replace the thermostat with a 24V timer and you are good to go.

30 amp Contactor
24VAC programmable timer
