Swivel Impact Question

I have a cordless 1/2 drive impact gun, that I basically use for tire removal. I am going to buy a set of metric impact swivel sockets.

My question is should I get the 1/2 inch drive impact socket set or 3/8 inch drive impact socket set?

I sometimes work on GM cars. I do things like: suspension, brakes, rack and pinion. And there are times that I need to lower the engine cradle bolts.

Probably neither. Normally 3/8 impact swivel sockets offer a tech great access and speed when on the end of an air ratchet or impact wrench. However, depending on how big and bulky your 1/2 drive cordless impact is, it may not offer you much in the way of access. you could probably get by with a 15 and 18mm swivel sockets with a 1/2 f to 3/8 male adapter depending on what you're working on. Do you already have a set of regular 1/2 drive impact sockets say in 13-22mm?

So far I have only needed a 15mm impact swivel socket. I work on lots of different brands of cars. I have an impact swivel adapter from C-man that I use ocasionally.

Currently I donot own any impact sockets. I do have a complete set of chrome 1/2 sockets, though.

Are you saying that I should purchase a set of regular impact sockets, first. And possibly swivel impact sockets, second?

Thanks for the info. Larry.

I'm gonna get the regular impacts in 1/2 inch with universal joint and an extension.

I thought that I would get some good input on the website.

Larry.

I love my set of 3/8" swivel impacts, but I feel like they're only worth buying once you already have regular impact sockets in 1/2" and 3/8", and air impact guns in both sizes.

I haven't felt the need for 1/2" swivels yet. I'll probably end up getting a few common sizes but don't think I could justify having a whole set.

ALL my impacts are Sunex! I've used them daily for the past 5 yrs with no issues. I have 1/4", 3/8", & 1/2" Deep, Shallow, and swivel impacts. I use a comination of them all to get the job done= zero issues. There cheap, great quality, normally two things that don't combine...:lol_hitti
