The idea of this thread is for people to post cheap items that can be purchased with SYWR "Surprise Points" or Craftsman Club monthly SYWR $10 rewards. I don't always have larger purchases I need to make to apply these points, so sometimes I've spent a long time looking for small items to spend my free money..

What I've gotten recently:
4pc Craftsman Hook and Pick set, currently on sale for $6.99
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00941634000P

Other ideas:
Tool boxes and bags commonly go on sale for <$10

I just bought a single wrench to finish my set, pair of shoes for my daughter, and a shirt for the wife. $2.12 total after my rewards.

When they were handing out $5 on a reg basis I would grab things like

sawzall blades
jigsaw blades
hacksaw blades
sandpaper
center punch
pin punch
nail sets
random sockets
files
staples

Kmart I would get random auto fluids, oil pans, funnels, shop rags.

Great Idea!

I just received these today from Kmart (using SYWR points). Remember, don't count out Kmart, because you can use the points at Kmart, and they have different deals and sales compared to Sears. So two places you can search for your 10 buck deals.

http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_010W005789574001P

I had 10 bucks worth of surprise points, and 2 bucks worth of points from clicking the local ads. That were going to expire, so I had to find something to burn the points on before they expired. These were on sale from $19.99 down to $13.99. And surprisingly, they qualify for SYWRMax free shipping for just that one single piece.

So, picked them up for about 2 bucks, including free shipping.

Review - Decent quality. Made in Taiwan. Lifetime warranty printed on back. Not overly impressed with them, but decent. Worth getting to burn some points about to expire, they are still on sale, and you don't have snap ring pliers (or are using Harbor Freight versions). Good for light duty work, think rebuilding ratchets, or household work. Probably won't hold up to heavy duty work, but I guess if you break them you can return them for exchange. You have to unscrew the middle screw, and flip them around, to change from outer to inner snap rings. Has one small and one medium/large size. Decent set for the 2 bucks I paid, but no way I would pay 20 bucks retail for them.

Any decent tool storage deals going on right now. I am in the market for a new box and like their premium heavy duty line.

I usually get semi-consumables. Things that can break and it's good to have a spare, but not something I need to replace regularly. For me it's test leads/multimeter 'accessories' and hand impact driver bits (still USA made) recently.

I only ever get the surprise points thing for clothes, shoes, and appliances. which is lame.

How do you get the Craftsman Club monthly SYWR $10 rewards? I have been a Craftsman Club member for 10 years or more.

I usually look for the stuff that's cheap and half price. When I see stuff, I just add it to my cart as a saved item. Then buy it when points are going to expire. When they go off sale, I remove them from my saved cart. Also, the Craftsman 1" and 2" spring clips are good filler items at a buck or two each, but not on sale right now.

Here is what is currently in my saved cart, cheap deals with good percentage off.

5 pc mini pliers set: ($29.99 on sale for $13.49)

3 pc mini pliers: ($19.99 on sale for $8.99)

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00945673000P

No slip work supports: ($12.99 on sale for $6.99)

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00934765000P

20" toolbox: ($19.99 on sale for $9.99)

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00959320000P

Lighted inspection mirror ($15.99 on sale for $9.99)

Another good way to check:

Go to the search box, enter "Craftsman", then click "Search". Then go to the left hand side and expand the "Discount" section. Select "50% off and more". Then up to the top again, and press the "Sears Only" button.

That will give you about 100 deep discount items to use your points on.

Needed a new battery for my dually so I bought the DieHard Gold AGM battery for $156, used probably $20 worth of points on that. Also picked up:

26pc SAE wrench set for $37 http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00946935000P
And couldn't pass up the $18 claw hammer, discounted to $16, and again to $13 with Craftsman Club http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00938125000P

Went to the store to pick it up in person, the points I earned on that purchase were enough to cover new battery terminals, felt terminal protector pads, and a keyhole saw.

That's really helpful! I'm glad I bumped this. Y'all gave me some good ideas!

Consumables are a good bet too, grinding wheels and cut off wheels are $2-3. Sandpaper, buffing/polishing supplies, and drill bits are good fillers too. You're going to need them eventually!

Forget about ordering these. They are garbage. I ordered the 5 pc set the other day, it arrived today. I had $10 worth of free surprise points expiring that day, so I got the 5 pc set for $3.49 with free shipping. I thought that was awesome, $3.49 for a $30 set. But they are junk, think "Harbor Freight" quality. It's a shame, because the zippered case with foam insert is really nice. I almost think the case is worth more than the tools. The tools don't line up when closed, both of the needle noses are "way off" when closed and don't match up. And the long nosed one is so far off the tips don't touch. Making them useless for precision electronics work. Also, when you hold them up to the light, you see the metal part of the tool doesn't even go halfway down into the plastic handles. One of the wire cutter tools, the two cutting edges are so far off they don't mate up, which would make actually cutting anything impossible.

Bad deal, even at $3.49.

The only reason I don't do this is because for some reason, I HATE the "easy-read" sockets, and that seems to be the only thing you get when ordering singles unless it is industrial.

It's been several years since I've seen Craftsman easy read sockets that weren't also stamped - singles or sets.

I agree, I turn them so I don't have to look at it. They are super cheap compared to any other brand though.

Just bought a 9 inch Craftsman level for $5. I had $4 of surprise points, so I am out the door at a little over $1. I can find a use for it at that price!

Also, in addition to searching the Tools department, try searching the Automotive department.

There are all kinds of things in the $2-$9 range. Oil drain pans, rags, sponges, funnels, car wash supplies. Also, small bottles of 2 cycle oil. And there are half off stuff in there all the time.

Last time I spend about 11 bucks in expiring points and got an oil drain pan, bag of rags, bottle of 2 cycle oil, and digital tire gauge. Walked out with a nice freebee grab bag.
