I bought some Lithonia 4', 4 bulb T8 lights at Home Depot. They can be screwed directly into ceiling truss. But they have no power cord, just knockouts. Can I use spare computer power cord, cut off female end and hard wire to the light? Then using wire nuts and tape with cord secured
through the knockout.

Thanks!!

That would work fine, but you will have no switch. Just be careful to use a grommet where the line cord passes through the sheet metal. FWIW, I just installed a pair of the 4' T8 hanging shop lights. I re-wired them so that the switch on the first light controls them both. Very handy.

I can't tell you about code... but at least use a knock out collar to protect against chafing.

LOL, I did the exact same thing last night to some old Lithuania fixtures I had because I had a bunch of old computer cords. I would suggest adding a 1/2" metal cable clamp to the knockout, I didn't, but I'm going to add them whenever I get to home depot...
