T.R. Almond chuck

Hi, I have a T.R. Almond drill chuck for my Craftsman 109
lathe Model number is 15F 1/4 inch max. I am missing the key for it. Any source for it? Thanks.

I hunted around to see if I could find a key for that chuck. However, I don't think I have enough information to find a match. It's sort of an oddball lathe chuck brand, unfortunately. I'm sure a key can be found, but some detailed info about the chuck and a photo would be needed, I think.

Yeah, if you have the pilot dimensions (bore diameter and depth if real shallow) and teeth per inch and size info (depth, odd shape, etc), someone might have something that can work, or can share a number for an existing key that will fit.

OK, I did find this Almond 1/4" lathe chuck. It has a #2 Morse taper shaft, and comes with a key. If yours has the MT2 shaft, It should work on your lathe. Different number, though. On eBay:

O.K. I am new to this lathe. How do I determine shaft taper. Mine looks straight with no taper.

I went to the shop and measured the end. It is 2 inches long on the shaft. Big end is .325 and the small end is .298. So yes there is a taper but what is this considered? Thanks.

Jacobs copied it, so the Jacobs key works fine, at least it does on my 1/2" model

Yup. Looks like I got an odd ball on my hands. Key will be hard to find. When I install it in the end stock it slides in all the way except for about just under 1/2 inch between back of chuck and nose of shank. So I should look for a #0 chuck. Thanks for all the help on this.
