Just scored this at an industrial equipment auction. It's 63x28in.

I am really excited about this thing. Does anyone else have one, with pics of it in action? I bought it mainly for fixturing while I weld stuff.

Also, any thoughts on what it weighs? It's described as 7" thick, but I believe that below the solid top, it has webbing and so forth.

Looks like a sub-plate from a machining center or a press bolster plate. Good score. :)

Very nice. price?

I would be too. No my welding table is an old CI table saw top. I wish I had something like that. Maybe some day. That and an acorn table.

Roughly off the top of my head right around 1 ton (2k lbs).

:+1: You might want to be careful making a tble out of that. I think it was designed to be supported along the entire bottom by something else. I'm not sure if supporting it by 4 corners would have a negative effect on it or not. Hard to see thickness from pic angle.

I paid $210 for it before fees, and it is listed as 7" thick in total, but I assume (and hope) it's not completely solid. If we take cast iron at 0.281lb/ci, then it could weigh as much as 3500lb. That would make things a bit tougher for me in terms of getting it home!

I have one similar to that, but the t slots run perpendicular to yours. I think mine is about 55x18x2, I snagged it for $50. Mine weighs about 650-700 if I had to guess, and it is a pain to move around. I welded up a frame for it to sit on, but I may put some casters on it, it always seems to be in the wrong place. I use it as a welding/fixture table, and it works great

Dang, good deal, hopefully it is flat enough. I took an off the top of my head average of 0.25lb/in^2, then subtracted a bit due to T slots and I wasn't sure if they included the ends (look like angle?) in the dimensions. Just based on the pic I'm thinking the 7" thickness measurement is a bit off on the high side. :dunno:

As for moving it. Ideal would be if you could get a flat bed and fork lift it on and off. Just depends on where it is going and what you have available to you when you get it home. Is this going in your residential garage? There is always the HD rental truck.

It's going about 120 miles, from a machine shop to my house. I have a Ford Ranger, and a boat trailer available to me, which hopefully has a good enough axle for this job. If not, I'll have to replace it or use something else.

I contacted them asking if it was solid, but no response yet. Based on what we think it is from, can anyone guess whether or not it would be solid below the top portion?

If it's a press bolster plate, which I'm inclined to think that it is, then it will be solid steel.

That will make a Hell of a nice fab table. I'd rent a truck. That Ranger isn't going to wanna pull something that heavy. Maybe load it upside down, so you can attach legs/framework underneath, then flip it while unloading. Hope you have a good hoist.

YOU ****!...that would be a great fabrication table.

An engine hoist is going to be your friend, lifting something that heavy. Make sure you use chains or REAL lifting straps/loops to lift that thing, and NEVER put part of your body under the suspended table.

I've been thinking lately about going that way with a welding/assembly table. You found a great table top for a great price. Looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with that.

When I was moving my 3-in-1 sheetmetal machine ($1300 pounds), I ended up renting the smallest U-Haul available WITH A RAMP. As short (in height...a few inches) as that is, you can probably use an engine hoist straight off the bed of the rented truck.

It is solid and weighs about 2 tons. I am going to be abandoning it. If anyone reading this wants it, PM me ASAP. It is located in Mississauga, ON. You can have it as a Christmas Miracle.

Good Lord man.....Get the table :wtf: You do realize that for $210 you are passing up on a once in a lifetime find. If that was close to me, I'd be all over it like fly's on a fresh piece of cow ****.

I agree with apmech probably a press bolster. If it were off a machining center the slots would likely run lengthwise.

It is a bargain for someone in that biz,, scrap to move it or even better would have a specific use for it. I don't buy everything that is a good deal if I don't need it.

Those sit around and become orchids and catchalls in small shops where space is at a premium and most things need to see some double duty. As a workbench they ****, would rather have a plate and 2 saw horses.

That is insane abandoning it, damn wish I lived closer I'd pick it up in a heartbeat. Rent a trailer or a truck to move it.

Sounds to me like he already bought it.

I did pay for it already. I am 300 miles from it. I bought it when I was between jobs and thought I could "make it happen", but now I'd have to take a day or two off (unpaid) just to go get it. It's not even worth my lost paid hours to go get it, let alone rent a truck.

Those of you near GTA or Buffalo area, by all means PM me for the receipt!

I don't buy everything that is a good deal if I don't need it.

To add to this, I don't take all the "free" stuff I am offered. There is just not enough time in the day to deal with it.

I went to pick up a "free" 2 stage snow blower this weekend from a buddy, on the way there I got him a 6 pack for the trade... after inspecting the snow blower I decided I would be better off if I just gave him the beer and left without the rusted and inoperable snow blower.

I will let him offload it to someone else who can store it in their garage for a few more years before it ends up in the recycle bin.
