T-slot welding table

As you know, things shift while you are welding so I wanted an easy way to lock down the fab parts. After a lot of searching I finally found my t slot plate that I was looking for. But unfortunally to get the width I was looking for I had to buy three 11" x 60" x 2" plates and build the framework around them. Well, I've started to use it and it works great. Final top size ended up to be 36" x 60" hope that it's not too small:) . The thing tops out at about 1200 lbs so when I set it in place I had to make sure that I'm not going to be moving it.

Cheers
Dave

What a great table. I am sure that will make fabrication easier. I think you need 3 more C-Clamps though.:lol_hitti:beer:

that is awesome, best idea I have seen in awhile. Where the T-slot tables hard to source, cheap? I assume they are old milling machine tables?

Thanks for the nice comments!! These plates were used for a vertical set-up on a milling machine. The great thing about these are that they are only 2 inches thick and made of cold rolled steel then the t-slots were machined in(read...easier to move LOL!). A milling machine table (or similar) would be sum-what thicker cast iron and a little more difficult to put together. I have seen milling tables that are 2 to 3 feet wide(12 feet long) and 6 inches thick. I would imagine that these would do a great job but it would be hard to move. I sourced these out of Canada (used)for about $1000, plus the 4 day vacation that I had promise my wife. Not cheap, but it should last a long time. I was visiting the salvage yards often for something cheaper but decided to go this way. You only go through life once.

Yes that is a really useful table, thanks for the pictures. Think you did not put those in your Honda CRV for the return trip.....where did you visit?

Really nice table. Just guessin' but I'd say you've got over 300 lbs. of C-clamps hanging on that thing.

In my opinion, it's worth every penny. We spend so much on stuff that just evaporates. That's going to be a great surface to work on -- for you, and probably for lot of other guys, for a long time after all of us here are dead and gone. :)

Lilredex No CRV for me. I put them in the back of my Tundra.

Pull them out of Burlington Canada. Nice area, a lot of wine there. :D

That looks awesome. I'll be building a new welding bench in the near future and that just threw a wrench into my plans.

So did this place have more of the T slot plates? Or did you get it all?

O-Engineer. Nope- they only had the set of three. Everything else was way too big. May want to keep and eye out on ebay.

Evogun. Love the XT. Had it now for 5-6 years with no problems. I I opted for the stich timmer as well which is good for sheet metal(though my tig leaves a stronger weld, you cant match the speed of a MIG)

Cheers
