I am looking at replacing the metal halides at my business warehouse with LED's. I looked at some new commercial fixture at a convention last week. I do not have cost info yet.

I looked into the LEDs a little but they aren't cheap so unless I can find some great deal on them they are out.
Yeah the 5 min. warm up time is something I thought about but I'm not one to rush in and instantly start working on something. It takes 5 minutes to make a cup of coffee :)
So right now it doesn't seem to be that big a deal, but tomorrow it might piss me off LoL

I certainly would not run out and buy new Metal Halide fixtures. I have them and yes, they work well, but T5HO works good too, and is somewhat more energy efficient (the fixtures I've compared with my MH, lumens per watt, is about 25% less power to operate the T5HO).

I bought the MH I have used at a good price, and no more than I use them, I would not save anything to switch, however, buying new is another story.

I have both T-8 and metal halide lighting. For things that use quick (less bright) lighting the T-8s, for stuff that needs really bright good light, then I use the metal halide lights. Typically I hit both at the same time and when the halides come up to brightness I can turn off the T-8s and not notice a significant difference.
