T5 ho light placement. ?..?

Did a quick Paint drawing of my garage. little bottom squares are the garage door tracks.. the door over on upper right it the door over to my 3rd stall.. no need for that drawing to go their since theirs a wall..
square in middle is garage door light and then big rectangle is attic pull down.. pretty basic garage layout ide say...
I also get a S2000 with a removable hardtop.. i'm going to be putting in a pulley system so i can simply lift it off the car alone and drive out. which is why i was thinking of having the lighting going around the outsides.. only problem is, the 2x lights in the front will be above the garage door when its open. so then ide be down to 4x lol..
i dont know.. what do you guys think of this? this way i can still lift my removable top and not block anymore lights once its up..
when the garage is open, the door comes to about 5" from the pull down. i got 8ft ceilings btw if that helps..

I ran 2 - 8 foot Tandems end to end (from my garage doors towards the back wall) and one parallel with the back wall in each Bay. Layout works great for me. I have each Bay wired on a separate switch. 8 foot ceilings may be too low to use HO fixtures. My ceilings are 13 feet and when I was doing my research I found that the higher ceilings were more suited to the HO lighting.

i already got the lights. got them for a good deal.. they seem fine to me, i got 4x on the other side.. thats only 10x24.. so i know how they look with the 8ft..

Is it a big deal if your garage door blocks 2 of your fixtures? Do you spend a lot of time doing work in your garage with the door open? You would still have lots of light at the back of your garage anyway. If you wanted to go to the trouble, you could switch those 2 fixtures separately.

In my garage I have 2 fixtures that are blocked by the open garage door. he door doesn't stay open very much and my overhead lights are not the only lights in the garage. I have perimeter lights and workbench lights on a separate circuit anyway.

Put outlets in your ceiling instead of hardwire.
Tuen you can move them around until you're happy with the layout, and you can double up easily.

That's exactly how I did it. Each of my LED shop lights is plugged into a duplex receptacle which leaves one outlet open for possible future use.

T-5's are considered "High Bay" fixtures, meaning 16' and above. At 8', you're going to have pools of light. Yes, it will be bright in there in places, but in the center it will suffer. Maybe move them all toward the center more than what's in your drawing.

This is exactly what I was trying to point out. HO at 8 feet is not going to work very well.

Isn't the glare pretty bad? I tested those fixtures and felt like I needed to wear a baseball hat and/or sunglasses when working near them. I chose the FEIT 2 tube LED fixtures instead.
Fewer lumens per fixture, but I compensated by installing more fixtures.

I have my T5HO's mounted at 14' and its fine. I wouldn't want it much lower though.

The glare isn't bad, it's looking strait at them that bothers me. Like the surface of the sun!

I have 8 2 bulb T5HO fixtures in my garage that is pretty similar to the OP size wise, also an 8 foot ceiling. The 2 that get blocked by the open garage door are on a separate circuit. It's certainly bright but no overly so IMO.

I used these T 5 in my 10' high shop...got twenty four of them...they work great.

I value the folks opinion on this site...and many said not to use the T 5 on lower ceilings...so I was careful and tested some first...the bulbs are different as well...so try a few diffent types of those....

I love them...and installed them on my 9 ' garage at the home as well...no problems with glare and I love the clean light.

One issue is they **** power...so I ended up running several addional 12-2 circuits and heavy duty switches for the new set up...ended up with seven circuits...but I also have a 200 amp panel dedicated for the shop...so no issue.
