I have 2- 4 bulb 48" fixtures with T5 bulbs in the garage. I was playing with the remote temp gun and the light bulbs were at 180+. Everything else in the garage was about 100 degrees
I know I can put leds bulbs in there but do they get hot?

Do not use T5 led tubes. They are JUNK! I have a supplier that sells four different styles. Three kinds have had many failure issues, the fourth style hasn't had the warranty problems yet, (only been carrying them for a couple of months) but they have huge aluminum heat sinks that prevent them from fitting in a lot of fixtures. I called the supplier up asking about them and my sales rep quickly steered me in another direction.

You will be way better off getting new fixtures.

T8 led tubes, on the other hand, are amazing and a no brainer when it comes to converting over from florescent.
