Walls and ceiling will be OSB with a clear sealer to give it a shine. I will be using 12 fixtures on a 9' ceiling, either....

The OSB will absorb a lot of light compared to a white wall and ceiling, so what color do ya'll recommend?

I was thinking around 5000K. I find 6500K harsh on white walls, but will the dark color of the OSB tone down the color?

Thanks

It's more personal preference than anything and how true the color of objects your working appear. I personally do not like 6500k and find it harsh no matter the wall color.

Color is your personal preference. There is no right or wrong.
If you want better quality light, then you should be looking at the CRI number. It might be printed on the packaging. If not, you can find it in the lamp description. It will be in code right before the color code. ie: F32T8/850. The higher the number, the better the color rendering of the lamp. 8 is the standard for T8 lamps today, but you can find 9's if you try, and want to spend extra $$.
Good luck

I like daylight tubes, regardless of the wall color, I find they give a much brighter, more usable light.

I prefer 6500K light. I replaced the 5000k bulbs after only a short time of use. I have white walls and ceiling.

I have 5000k everywhere in my house, love the daylight color. I tried going 6500k in the garage and it's even better! T8 above washer/dryer, T12s everywhere else (8 bulbs total)

I'd atleast paint the ceiling white and use striplights. Let the entire ceiling be your light reflector. I'd also stick with a bulb that is readily available in your area.

I use 6500K T8 bulbs in my garage. I painted the ceiling gloss white and the walls are a semi-gloss white. Definitely brightens everything up.

One thing about "white" is that there are many shades of white. Look thru samples at home centers or paint stores. And you can also use two different colors on the garage walls; use a white on the upper half and some other color on the lower half. Maybe use a contrasting stripe between the two halves.
