I picked up a ridgid ts3650 over the weekend, $200 because the guy said the switch was broken. Turns out the yellow safety key was taped to the bottom of the table.

Anyway, the blade that came on it:

About a third of the teeth are chipped, looks from the number (828994) like the original blade, could be 40 teeth I haven't had time to count.

There's a shop near work that will give it a quick pass for $15, no shaping, no new carbides, just jig, grind, scrub.

For that price, is it worth doing to keep for dirty lumber? Was the blade decent and worth a better job? Toss and replace?

Edited to add, I'm not doing fine work, but I don't want to be frustrated when I finally get it set up and have an hour free and the blade is garbage.

Normally I am not a fan of replacing something that can be refurbished, but in this case - chuck it and buy a new one.

Another vote for replace.

I pay $50 or more for a blade. As long as it's not missing any carbide tips, I'll get it sharpened. Otherwise, I buy a new one.

Check Amazon....they have some good deals on blades now and then. I recently picked up 2 Dewalt 10" 60 tooth blades for about $40.

Blade teeth chipped trash it.

The only saw blade we sharpen is an expensive blade $300 bucks that's on a chop saw we use in our custom picture frame shop. Everything else is trashed. A guy has a route and comes around and picks up blades.

Wood guy in our family always had his sharpening guy do a pass over all the new blades, or has the quality of new blades really stepped up?

Blade in hand what does your sharpening guy say about it?
