Table saw refurbish...have a question...

i am knocking the rust off this craftsman table saw and am hoping to get it painted before it gets too cold out. my question is what should i do with the underside of the table and the section that holds the blade. it is covered with rust but doesn't appear to be too deep. should i just paint it or attempt to get it back to bare metal. i'll add a picture so you can see the amount of rust i'm dealing with.

depends on how pretty you want it to be. that rust won't affect the operation of the saw

the topside of the table may have slight pits from the rust after i clean it up. how should i handle those? how will the pits effect the operation of the saw? thanks much

JMO but the blade housing is just surface rust, and as such is just cosmetic

The slight pits in the table shouldn't be an issue, as long as the table is flat and smooth. Once finished, I would use a good quality auto polish to protect the table from future rust

Light wire brush the bottom and Rustoleam paint. Top, clean, Polish, wax. The wax , if done well and in coats will fill and small pits.
