I’ve got an $120 ryobi 10” table saw I’ve been using for my condo renovation for the last year. It seems to do the job ok.

Starting This fall I’ve got to gut renovate the 3 apartments.

Worth upgrading to a dewalt saw? I saw this beauty on sale today and started salivating....

I can sell my ryobi for a few bucks to help cover some of the cost of the dewalt.

Keep the Ryobi and invest in a decent sharp blade. Burn up the Ryobi, repeat. Unless you need a commercial/industrial grade saw and if you do would Dewalt really be the answer?
If it's wheels you are after, there are a lot of choices for saw stands for less than 200 bucks. Just my .02

I see Saw Stop has a job site saw that looks pretty nice. Plus you get the brake mechanism that could potentially save your fingers. I know they might cost more than other saws, but they offer protection that you may never need, but you just never know. Having stuck my thumb in a table saw and losing just a little flesh, for myself, I will be buying a Saw Stop saw the day I upgrade.

I have had that DeWalt for over ten years and love it. I cut hardwoods, softwoods, aluminum, brass, plastic, etc. I love the rack and pinion fence and the no rust table. GETIT NOW.

A recent thread you may find of interest -

Im looking to get a table saw, have never owned one before.. would mostly be used in garage or driveway, for woodworking /furniture projects
sometimes inside when im renovating parts of my house.

What do you guys recommend? I already have the Dewalt Sliding miter saw DWS780 & stand. So I was looking at Dewalt table saws like this, but Im open to other brands.

DEWALT DWE7491RS
32" rip with rolling stand
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F2CGXGG/?tag=atomicindus08-20

24" rip with stand
https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-...H=REC-_-rv_search_plp_rr-_-NA-_-303207818-_-N

I ended up buying the Dewalt dwe7491RS , a Dado throat plate & a freud Dado stack

got everything for $650 on amazon

thanks for the suggestions everyone

I have a very old low end Delta bench top. I'm also eyeing that Dewalt. If I could get a good fence without spending what the Dewalt costs, I might consider it. It spins a blade and doesn't do much more than that. I think the best part of a saw has got to be the fence system it comes with.

The dewalt is 469$ on sale right now. Plus you can stack a 10% coupon to get it down to $422.

I have to second these thoughts. My first portable table saw was a Makita. Maybe slightly better than the OP's Ryobi. It got the job done. I stepped up to the Bosch with the gravity rise stand. This felt like a major improvement due to the stand and the very good fence, which meant I no longer had to measure the cut on both ends of the fence.

It is a better "experience", but that is hard to put a value on. The whine through my hearing protection is a different pitch. It has a bigger table and feels more solid. But at the end of the day, it is still a portable saw, and feels like it. The functionality isn't really much different. For a professional the improved feel would justify it, but for this DIYer, I have to say no. I have to assume the Dewalt would be the same.

If I were to do it over, I would keep the Makita (or the OP's Ryobi) and look for a good table/fence system like the Rousseau. While I've not used one, it looks like it would provide more stability and the ability to work with bigger sheet goods, and also allow the use of a router setup in the extension.

I was using my Makita track saw today cutting some 1/2 Baltic birch and 3/4 cabinet grade from Lowes. Who needs a stinkin' table saw!

It really had me rethinking the need for a better table saw. I'll probably just make some nice sleds for smaller cross cuts and keep using the track saw for the long cuts.

Or you could make DIY version of a festool mft and leave a short track on it

That's the way my thinking is running too. Given that I'm running out of room in my garage, and the inherent limitations of a portable saw for large sheet goods, I'm leaning toward downsizing my portable saw and making up the difference with a tracksaw.

Had to look that one up. Never seen it before. Kind of reminds me of an over priced erector set. :lol_hitti

I actually have good luck with a simple sheet of 1" foam I put down on my bench and then put my ply on top of that. I cut a 4X8 sheet of foam into 2X4 sheets and stack as needed.

I guess dado work I can do with my router if I ever need it.

Just throwing this out there - I have the job site DeWalt and it's a great saw but the fence max is about 16" and it won't take a dado blade.

I like the Dewalt and it is what I bought no complaints it is worth the money.
I put a smaller blade in my jobsite saw it works alot better, try giving that a shot. I have a Dewalt Jobsite I can run a dado stack in it.

This guy recommends using a 7-1/4" I use a 8-1/2" I can still using Riving knife and use a cross cut sled and blades are much cheaper.

lol i was gonna post in here.. ive gotten 2 dewalts in a row where the table is not flat.. QC must be sleeping at the dewalt factory.. thinking im gonna return this saw & go with the bosch 4110-10

I emailed dewalt about it & they gave me a stupid reply saying something about making sure the saw was bolted securely to stand or work bench. What that has to do with the table surface not being flat I have no idea.
