Lafe, that seems very high to me. The tank is probably a chinessium portable, also these are NOT intended to fill a tank generally its a constant pressure for paint guns and tanks for instance.

Can you pressurize a tank (or tires) with it? sure but only to its rated max, which at a guess will be around 40 PSI or so?

Don. that's a nice collection!
Yeah I don't care for the tank either. I'll shoot him an offer and probably get the standard reply. I just like how nice the compressor itself looks.

Here is mine I picked up last week for $15. I'm guessing 1953ish based on the plate stamps. I haven't found anything in any of the catalogues from the 1940s-1958. I know it is late 40s to early 50s based on the Long-C plates, but the "Craftsman" on the top of it is not Long-C. I will repaint it sometime soon.20200222_102800.jpeg20200222_105018.jpeg20200222_110545.jpg20200222_110514.jpg20200222_110521.jpg20200222_110527.jpg20200221_105420.jpeg20200221_105415.jpeg

Picked up this ‘52 dated paint sprayer this weekend for $5! I was pretty stoked. It’s filthy but all complete and the decals have the right look.

I hava a similar compressor but no motor. Is there a minimum horsepower needed? I was wanting to use a bullet shaped motor from a vintage desk fan. If I take the blades off and install a pully do you think it would work? If not does anyone know of any bullet shaped motors? I want to have a steam punk look. I was also thinking about using a motorcycle gas tank to store the air in. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
I seriously doubt that a motorcycle gas tank will safely hold any useful level of air pressure.

I was given this years ago by my father. Sitting on a galvanized tank, no motor. No info on it.

I think that would die if you tried to fill the tank to any pressure. Most of those are constant supply for painting with.

I hooked up a small 1/4 HP motor with a variable speed controller and it works and builds pressure, I shut it off before it hit 60 psi, that's what the gauge goes to, I wouldn't want much more than that anyway. It will make a nice compressor for air cooling and blowing away chips on the drill press and the other cutting machines that I can get away with just air.

With the tank being a galvanized water tank by the look, I think 60psi is pushing it. So not going to be enough for nail guns, besides I don't get along with dead tree carcasses very well…
