Have any of you converted a table top drill press to a floor type? I have more floor space that bench space.

Thanks

Dave

Yes...nothing to it if you can find a donor machine or find the length and OD/ID tube that you need

Just in case it will help you. I have a Rockwell 15-665 floor model that someone had cut the pole to 50." I finally found a full sized one at 66." Being delivered soon though it wasn't cheap.

So now I have a spare 50"x2 3/4.

Not full length, but it's a tweener. Make a short stand for it and your full height. The way the press sits now, a short stool or mechanics seat puts you in a working position, though you're a bit low.

PM me if you're interested.

Or you can mount the bench top model you have to the top of a toolbox to make it mobile and then store your clamps and drill bits in the drawers
