Just got hired by the neighbor to put 2 HF 44's back to back and add work table to the top. Says he wants to make one side SAE other side MM.

Think I will run into a bowing or separating problem with attaching them with 6 bolts, corners and center at top and bottom and then 4 wheels at the corners?

I did a google stalk to see if any of you guys have done this and came up empty. If I missed it, I apologize and please link it.

Why not build a frame out of some angle iron and square stock to handle the load so you don't have all the weight bearing on the sheet metal you're screwing together?

I would have 4 wheels on one side and 3 casters on the other, that way it's stable and still supports lots of weight,

Thanks guys and he gave some more info. He told me what he plans on doing on top so the 6 bolt, 4 corner wheels idea essentially turned into a mustard fart in the wind.

He has a completely empty 2 car garage. He says that the only thing going in it is extra lighting and this work bench/tool box. He is married so we will see how well this theory holds water.

He is setting up the area work island style. He wants it dead center, level, no wheels and a work height of 42".

So, just going to build a pedestal and **** them up and make a nice top.

Thank you very much for replies and links.

I would build a frame for them to sit on. I'd use six casters under it, three on each end. From there I'd bolt the boxes together at least on upper portion. From there make one seamless top.

Take a look at my previous posts. I did that exact thing with two of the Dewalt toolboxes.
