I was given a 3/4 hp no name Taiwan bench grinder. It's got a bad push pull switch . I found a switch but it's 20 bucks, not sure I want to invest 20 in this thing . The switch has 4 poles but it's just an off on switch, I would think I could use about any switch. Anybody dealt with this ?

I'll try and get a picture tomorrow. I have a smaller grinder, also Taiwan, that looks to have the same switch. Is there any way to slow these down for buffing ?

I think you mean 4 terminals, and it's a 2 pole switch. That is normal for a 240 volt motor and even if your grinder is 120 only, they may use the same switch across the board. You can replace with a single pole switch if you only run the grinder on 120 volts.

Thanks. I took the switch apart today, there was a loose post not making contact. I soldered it, now it's nice and tight, put everything back together and works fine. Grinder is quite and pretty smooth, shaft on the left has no play in it, the right has just enough to feel, not much. This thing may run for a long time and it might quit next week, who knows. I don't have a dime in it although I'll probably give the guy that gave it to me 20 bucks since I did get it running without spending any money. Might even clean it up and paint it.
