Takagi TK Jr installation questions

I'm fairly certain I'll be going the TK Jr route for my garage floor radiant.

In Alaska I'm assuming I'll need the freeze protection backflow preventer?

Does that work with the concentric vent kit?

I'd also be interested in hearing installation suggestions from guys in cold climates or installation suggestion in general.

I finally found the answers to my questions on the Tagaki website, but I'd still like to hear any installation suggestions or tips from those who have been there, done that.

Tankless water heaters are not Boilers.

In Alaska you will likely be paying nearly $5/gal. for propane. I just spent a week on the Kenai with a customer that used our design for a wood boiler with condensing boiler backup.

I was there to help with a hot bed and to take the propane boiler off of the domestic loop.
Tagaki lacks the outdoor reset that you will wish you had.

I never stated that tankless water heaters are boilers.

It is my understanding that boilers are not necessarily needed for floor radiant applications because you don't need to heat the water for floor radiant heat to what the average boiler puts out.

I've seen plenty of people in Alaska use a regular NG water heater in floor radiant setups for detached garages. Which is probably the route I'm going to go becuase I can get parts locally if needed.

A search of this site will show plenty of people using the Takagi for floor radiant heat.

Takagi even says the unit is usable for that purpose.

I also never said anything about using propane.

It'd be pretty stupid to use propane when natural gas is available, on site, and is currently used to heat the house, domestic water, cook, etc......

Propane can be problematic in Alaska during winter time.

Propane is currently $3.29BTW.
