Take the Lock 'n Roll strips off your SO box?

The Car Doctor recently did a shop tour video of his box and his shop. He has a KRL761BPF roll cab with the matching KRL791APF top chest. He says his box didn't come with any drawer retention devices, but I know for a fact that it did. I think he took the Lock 'n Roll strips off many years ago and forgot that he had. Anyway, being that his shop floor is level, his drawers don't roll open with the box just sitting there. However, he does say in the video that he has to lock the box whenever he moves it.

What about you guys; have you ever thought about taking the Lock 'n Roll strips off your SO box?

Nope I got used to mine pretty quick. That said its not a permanent mod to delete them you can always reinstall them

Yes I know, they come off real easy and install in about two seconds.

My cranberry 761 has them too, but if they're worn down enough the detent won't keep the drawers closed. Food for thought.

Well, the one advantage I can see for not having them on there is it gives your fingers more room to sink under the drawer pull. It gives you that feeling of an old KR box like the KR1000.

If Lock N Roll is the slide lock thing in the pull groove... I kicked those things off my box the second day. What a PIA (to me), to each their own but I HATED them.

I took the lock and roll strips out of my box. It's easier to keep clean and I don't have to worry about the latch side wearing on the paint. I realize that not everyone may have those concerns though. To each their own.

I have mine. Never thought about taking them out. It comes natural to me to open it the way it's supposed to. Don't see how taking them out is gonna "save you time"

I took mine out after a few months of using the lock and roll. Your floor has to be level or in my case, I just put spacers to lift the front two wheels up.

I wouldn't take them out if you plan on rolling the box often. I liked it at first but it kinda got old.

I'm so use to the slide latch system I don't even really notice.

I'm not in love with them but don't hate them either. If you don't move you box, it wouldn't matter.

I'd rip them off and burn them in a fire if there were grip latch replacements!

I move my box everywhere so I have mine on. They're super easy to use and I find that when people come to look at my box (I work in a hospital) they can't figure out how to open it which is an added bonus for me.

NO WAY I HATE IT!!!
I don't like the way the drawer closes and half bounces back. Also my OCD doesn't like that the drawers aren't evenly closed if u remove them.
For the person that said it may wear the paint? I checked on the one I removed and there's no signs of wear on the paint and my box is atleast 15 years old so...

Ever had a KR1000 dive face-first into the pavement because the drawers flopped open?

I did. Once. O-N-C-E. The KRL1022 that replaced it has functioning drawer slide-locks.

It took hours of labor, and several hundred dollars in drawer slides to make the KR1000 functional again.

Anyways. This box is probably 15 years old atleast and it doesn't have any wear whatsoever from the plastic Krl strips. If someone is that worried about plastic strips wearing paint....most likely shouldn't be putting tools in the drawers then.

Thanks for trying, I'm not really worried about, more curious. My old kra roll cab has visible marks from being opened and closed umpteen times a day. I'll post a pic on Monday when swapping my tools into my new krl722
