I have a 2and a half car garage and a 5 ft wide storage next to it. I want to remove the wall to make it a 3 car. I have a 1966 mustang that barely get driven so I will put that on dollies and move it into the space.

My question is how should I attempt this? As you can see in the pictures my attic space is above the garage. The floor ceiling joist run perpendicular to the wall. do I need to do a beam? Or can i run 2x4 from the roof joist down the floor joists?

The wall in question is about 13 feet long

I'm going to say that is a bearing wall because of the run distance for the joists and the fact that they run at right angles to the wall. That would require you to use a beam and supports to remove the wall.

you need an engineer or construction expert to be there and look at it to be sure

with that said...
you have a couple of options
you can install 2 posts along the opposing walls in the garage and have those carry a beam where the wall is now to hold the ceiling up
or
you can actually install a beam in the atic and use hangers fron the ceiling rafters to the beam in order to carry them. you will still need the suport posts BTW
or
it looks to be that from the construction type that I see in the pix. you could essentally to the second option but remove the exsisting ceiling and install a new ceiling higher up so you could take advantage of having a lift for service and storage

in order to make a better examination of your situation...I would need more pictures of the car....

Looks like the wall only supports the ceiling. I doubt you would have any problems, but you can run some 2x4s up to the rafters above the wall before you take it out. Might as well run some on the other side as well to balance it out.

I could be missing something, but I doubt it.
