I had some tear out cabinets in my old home and recently moved and want to do the same thing in a way... 42" high cabinets but found they are pretty darn expensive at this point. Looked at the Gladiator metal ones but they are SOOooooo short! Is there anything out there that is taller? 36 to 42" high and either metal or wood?
Thanks for any input!!

One of my garages has repurposed kitchen cabinets from our kitchen remodel. The other has Mills Pride cabinets from Home Depot.

The repurposed Oak Cabinets look nice and my wife is happy with them, the Mills Pride cabinets fit my limited budget and with the addition of a few cleats to support heavily loaded shelves, they look and work "just fine".

Kitchen cabinets come in standard sizes-
wall cabinets are 12"d, 30, 36, or 42"H

The least expensive would be an RTA MDF cabinet, unfinished- if you can find such an animal. The next best choice is an RTA in birch, unfinished.

If you're lucky, maybe there's a wholesale outlet warehouse near you. They usually sell overstock, and closeout cabinets for about half of new. There's a place here in the ATL that has a warehouse full of cabinets- kitchen and bath!

LAst time I did kitchen cabinets in our garage I just waited for HD or L to have them on sale. I got the unfinished ones and used solid color stain on them. If I did it again I might upgrade to their always in stock white units.

Old kitchen wall cabinets (30" tall) have not been very useful for me. They really aren't deep enough.

They're sticking around for now.... latest arrangement is two rows on about 10' of wall above my lathe and drill press.
