Tambour steel cabinets

Hi, folks. First post (I think? EDIT: nevermind, 3rd post ;) ), longtime lurker. I have a tight space (19.5'x19.5') that I share with two cars, so every inch counts (that's what she said).

Looking into shallow, tambour steel cabinets for flammables so I don't have to worry about clearance for hinged doors. Pickings seem to be really slim. Is it because the tambour door is just not fashionable anymore, or am I not looking in the right places?

So I did find some for industrial/hospital applications, but obviously looking for residential-grade at residential prices.

Tambour doors cost more to make and take up headroom in the cabinet. If your looking for a flammable specific cabinet then you probably wont find one with type of door as flammable cabinets have to be fire rated for a certain amount of time and the ones I have are almost two inches thick. If your just looking for a standard cabinet you might look for drop front door styles.

I have Knoll Reuter overhead cabinets up high along one wall of my shop. They're not flammables cabinets, but they're mostly steel, with thick composite doors, that roll up over the top in about 3-6" of clearance in front and on top. I actually keep my flammables in Steelcase overheads, over a deep bench. They need 12-16 inches of clearance for their garage doors.
